VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN DURING THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC COVID19

Abstract

2020 has been a year of challenge and risk for humanity all over the world. The deadly naval corona virus has created a situation in which the health security, social security and economic security of life was in danger. Though now the whole world is trying to normalize the situation, the impact of Covid19 is so deep and disastrous. The possible measure that the governments of world employed to minimize the spread of the disease is lockdown or home quarantine or social distancing or isolation. But this home quarantine as shown the existing gender gap between men and women and gender –based violence. The home which is considered to be the safest place for women has proven to be the most unsafe place for women. This paper shows the rise of gender based violence against women, psychological and mental impact of the deadly virus on women and how it lead to be reason for the increasing rate of depression  ,domestic violence and suicidal attempts etc.
